UPDATE: We got a Tri-Caster! Have you seen one in action yet? The so-called "TV Studio in a box" is the portability solution for TV broadcasting. Its virtual sets are like nothing you've seen... Wanna test drive it? Our students are getting trained on it now!
The Ohio Center for Broadcasting Columbus Campus has upgraded quite a few things since we opened here in March '08 on the east side of Columbus. Our TV control room remodel is nearly complete with large flatscreens and quad-splitters...looks great! Worth seeing that, plus the TEN audio studios, EIGHT video editing suites, TWO internet radio stations, and our fully-equipped television studio...for starters!

8.8.11 - Renovation nearly complete! Our brand-new computer lab, built to help students learn how to add content for web delivery, is almost ready. We're adding 24 desktop workstations to complement new curriculum elements on web content creation and using social media to build an audience. We've added these and other enhancements to our program at the suggestion of hiring managers to make our students even more attractive in the job market.
6.30.11 - OCB Columbus honors Mr. High School Sports! Long-time sports reporter at 610 WTVN, Larry Larson was honored by high-school Athletic Directors and coaches, representatives from the Columbus Crew, Clippers and Blue Jackets, and sports reporters from all over Central Ohio, as he prepares to retire this summer. OCB dedicated a studio in his honor, naming it the "Larry Larson - Mr. High School Sport Studio, to mark the tremendous impact he's had on athletes, coaches, parents and everyone who supports them. Veteran Columbus Sportscaster Dave Maetzold emcee’d the event…and Larry had some inspirational words of his own. Here’s what now hangs on the studio named in his honor:
This studio was dedicated to upholding the principles of Mr. High School Sports, Larry Larson, upon his retirement from 610 WTVN in the summer of 2011. Larry’s determination to recognize and support student-athletes, their coaches, administrators, parents and officials has shined light on the positive impact of involvement in high school sports.
10.29.10 - On-Camera Coach! ABC 6 and Fox 28’s Amy Lutz will help prepare contestants for our first-ever Broadcast Idol. Find out more here…
10.19.10 - Read a little about our latest group of graduates here: "More Reason to Celebrate!"
Congratulations to our recent graduating class November Afternoons. Many are already working in the business...

Welcome September Days and September Nights! We're very happy to have you with us! Only one more class starting in 2010...
Instructor Joel Craig just returned from field producing Season Two of Ghost Lab for the Discovery Channel. Crazy stories...and great advice for students who want to work in reality TV production. A "sneak peak" of this season will premiere on October 19th...
Instructor Mike Gravely, award-winning videographer for WBNS 10TV, has just added to his hardware collection! Mike scored an Emmy in the recent local ceremony. He does something really cool with his awards: he ships them to his parents to display, since he credits them with sending him on the road to success...
A big congratulations to student Ryan Baker, who recently snagged a dream opportunity: to provide color commentary for a football game in Cleveland Browns Stadium. Here he is on the right, alongside 97.1 The Fan sports anchor (as well as OCB Instructor and graduate) Milan Jordan. They were hired by USA Today to cover the best high school football matchup in town: the battle between Cleveland St. Ignatius and Mentor Lake Catholic. Lake Catholic won. So did Ryan. Picture below:

Great fun for OCB graduate Rob Shelton...and more evidence that networking is so important! Rob worked for ESPN as a utility guy for the Herbstreit Classis at the 'shoe on Labor Day weekend. The very next weekend, ESPN called him to help coordinate production for ESPN 3D at the Buckeyes game! He spent the day on the sidelines, working with ESPN Reporter Holly Rowe.

Congratulations to our recent graduating class September Nights!
